Fur Babies

Hi there! Today I thought I'd share a little something different than my usual fashion related posts. I'd like to introduce you to my two babies, Coco and Goliath. I don't have children and I don't plan on having any until my late twenties so for now these two little cuties are my kids.
My mini-pinscher, Goliath, was a gift from a friend. In December of 2012 I went to Las Vegas to visit such friend. Little did I know I would be falling in love with a tiny pooch! Goliath, who at the time was named Sparky, became so attached to my boyfriend and I. We all slept together that night and I was extremely saddened at the thought of having to leave him the next day. I made plans to ask my landlord if I could have a dog and when she said yes I planned another trip back to Vegas to pick him up. Within 3 weeks I became a dog-owner for the first time. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would fall in love with an animal as much as I did with Goliath. His little personality is so adorable! He is suuuuuuuper attached to me and boy is he a guard dog! Any unfamiliar noise will trigger a boyfriend and I save so much money on an alarm system with him ;)

My little Chiweenie, Coco, was rescued by my boyfriend and I last year. We had been wanting a companion for Goliath so we thought about it long and hard and finally decided to stop by our local animal shelter one day and find a new best friend for him. If you're thinking of adding a furry friend to your family, please please please consider rescuing one. The bond between owner and a rescued pet is unlike anything else!
Anyway, Coco quickly caught our eye as she played and ran around her kennel. After picking her up a few days later from the vet (it's a requirement that all dogs get spayed/neutered after adoption to help control the pet population) she was a little weak but recovered quickly. Today, Coco is a crazy, always hungry, playful little pup. She'll terrorize Goliath during his naps so he can play, jump and lick your face non-stop if you let her, and boy can she sleep! Her little doggy body weighs a ton when she's asleep. Her floppy ears and puppy eyes get me every time. She can get away with murder I tell ya!
If you're on the fence about getting a dog, please consider rescuing one. Owning a dog is a huge responsibility, I get so angry when people get dogs because they think they're cute and then quickly give them up because they realized it's too much responsibility to care for them. Like I tell everyone, it's almost like you're raising a kid when you're a dog parent. You have to feed them, groom them, walk them, play with them, and give them so much attention. The responsibility is huge but the reward outweighs anything else! Coming home and having them jump around my legs and give me wet doggy kisses makes everything so much better!
Hope you enjoyed this little random post and feel free to ask any questions! I'm no dog expert but I'd like to think I'm doing a great job at caring for my babies.
