Happy Hunger Games

Happy Monday! and may the odds be ever in your favor! ;)

Hope you all had an eventful weekend. I hosted a Halloween party on Friday night and it was a success! I loved seeing old friends and new ones. Despite the rain, we had a great time laughing and drinking the night away.

Here's my big costume reveal! (If you follow me on Instagram, you already saw it). I am so happy with the way it came out! The process was really long but well worth it. Here's a short recap of how I achieved this Effie Trinket inspired costume:

Items I used:
Leather skater skirt
Peplum top
2 dog cones (1 small, 1 medium)
Lace Gloves
4 hair ties (used them as bracelets)
Old pair of heels
Body Glitter
Silver wig
Silver belt
30 ft. of lavender fabric

I started by cutting strips of fabric and gluing them individually to a leather skater skirt and a peplum top. By gluing each strip separately I was able to achieve a ruffle effect.

Next, I had to decide how to get the over sized collar look. For that, I used 2 dog cones. I followed a similar technique as the skirt and top but glued the fabric in different directions to fill up the space faster.

The heels I used were an old pair I had purchased at Kohls, they crossed at the front of my foot which was perfect, all I had to do was glue fabric to each strip and I was all done.

The wig I purchased was from Amazon. It had side-swept bangs and measured about 30 ins., according to the packaging. The length was perfect because it allowed me to play with the hair in order to cover up areas of my hair that you can see through the wig. I had to cut blunt bangs myself but that was a pretty easy process.

Lastly, I put on my lace gloves from Amazon, hair ties as bracelets, a belt with 2 birds (they resembled Mockingjay's to me LOL), and a whole lot of makeup. I love the way it all came out. I got so many compliments all night! Hope this post and costume inspires you to get creative next year and work up a really cool costume.

Have a great week!
